Being a destination elopement photographer has truly taught me to roll with the punches and always make the best out of what you have, and that is exactly what we did with Alison and Connor’s  intimate Yosemite vow renewal!

A change of plans

Alison and Connor were supposed to have a big wedding back in May of 2020, but as many couples had to, they postponed their day to 2021. They had been together since freshman year of high school, so they decided they couldn’t wait any longer and got married with close friends and family at a lake house last year. Alison and Connor became husband and wife after years of being high school sweethearts (literally a storybook ending)!!

They were planning on doing a big celebration in May of 2021, but once again – things didn’t look better for them to still do a huge gathering. Instead they decided to scratch everything for a second time and brought some of their closest family and friends to Yosemite to renew their vows. And let me tell you… it’s hard to beat a Yosemite Vow Renewal. The weather, the location, the company, the views… it’s the perfect place to spend time with your family and friends (and me hehe), and recommit your life to your loved one!

If you are looking to have a Yosemite vow renewal, or your elopement at Yosemite you can check out my other blog posts with more tips on “How to Plan a Yosemite Elopement”. Every elopement, wedding and vow renewal is essentially unique to the couple and what they are looking for, and I am down for all of your crazy ideas!

This Yosemite vow renewal included them renting about 3 cabins to fill up with their family and friends. They did a few breathtaking hikes together the day before, that I got to tag along with and take some pictures of all of them together! We went to Taft point the day before, and mirror lakes the afternoon after their vow renewal.

The perfect getaway

Of course in a true Alison and Connor way, we had to change location last minute because the location for their ceremony had inclement weather! Yet just another change of plans. But lucky for them…you truly can’t go wrong anywhere in Yosemite. Everywhere is PERFECT!

We woke up early Friday morning for their sunrise Yosemite vow renewal, had time for a special first look, and then their family and friends arrived and we got to all stand around them as they shared their vows with one another. It was intimate, special and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Although we didn’t get to go to Glacier point for their renewal, here is another sunrise elopement there for you to have an idea!

Yosemite is beautiful through and through and I will never get tired of photographing couples there! With that being said… I would love to be there for your own Yosemite special day! Let’s chat and plan your session!
